IJATCSE Policy on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in Research and Manuscript Preparation
We acknowledge the remarkable advancements and the increasing role of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools in research activities and manuscript preparation. The use of AI-based assistive tools for editing and refining human-generated content has been a longstanding practice in research. While Generative AI (GenAI) enhances writing efficiency, it also introduces ethical and integrity challenges that must be carefully addressed in scientific publishing. To preserve transparency, authenticity, and scientific rigor, the journal has established the following policies governing the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies throughout manuscript preparation, peer review, and publication.
Permitted Uses:
Authors may use Generative AI tools for specific tasks, including:
- Generating research ideas and assisting with research design.
- Language editing and grammar correction
- Enhancing clarity and coherence of text
- Generating visual aids, such as figures or graphs, provided proper attribution is given.
Prohibited Uses:
GenAI tools must not be used for:
- Data generation, data collection, data analysis, or interpretation.
- Drafting or writing any part of the manuscript.
- Generate content that lacks originality, academic rigor, or scholarly integrity.
* GenAI tools cannot be credited with authorship because they cannot be held accountable for research integrity and may generate erroneous information..
* Any content generated by GenAI (including literature reviews) is not acceptable as a citation. Authors must cite the original sources directly.
Disclosure and Verification:
- Authors must explicitly disclose all GenAI use in their research and manuscript preparation. This disclosure should appear in the Acknowledgements section, specifying the tool used, purpose/necessity of use, and extent of use. Failure to do so, if detected at any stage by the journal, will result in immediate removal of the manuscript from the peer review process or, if already accepted, withdrawal of the article prior to publication.
Accountability
Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy, originality, and appropriateness of any GenAI-assisted outputs. Misuse of AI tools that leads to plagiarism, ethical violations, or inaccurate findings will result in the rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published paper.
In the Review Process
Reviewers may use GenAI tools for language editing (such as improving the readability of a human-generated review). They are discouraged from using generative AI tools to evaluate manuscripts. If AI assistance is employed, reviewers must disclose its use to the Chief Editor, ensuring transparency in the review process
